Transferring a novel technology from the development environment
to the marketplace is a multidisciplinary and complex undertaking.
TFI’s Senior Consultants have many years of experience
in industry in marketing, technical management and production,
and can provide both strategic guidance and detailed plans
to allow the best product to emerge from your technology.
Dr J Malcolm Wilkinson is the Principal of TFI. His career
in industry spans 24 years in semiconductor and computer
companies and covered all aspects of business from R&D
through product development and manufacturing to corporate
technology strategy, technology transfer and finally marketing
and sales. Since forming Technology For Industry Ltd in
1992 Malcolm has become recognized as a leader in the commercial
development of micro and nanotechnology.
TFI – together with Simpson Research - has worked
with the PSC Team on several assignments involving EU FP6
and other funding for technology start-ups in Malta.
Malcolm is a Fellow of the Institute of Nanotechnology,
a Member of the IEEE, IMAPS and is a MANCEF Board Member.
He has also been a speaker at numerous conferences, including:
Comms 2003, IMAPS, NanoTech, Comms 2004.
Dr. Wilkinson holds a BA, Physics (Oxford University) and
an MSc in Semiconductor Technology (Southampton University).
He secured his Doctorate for research work in Microelectronics
at Middlesex University. His early career was as Development
Engineer with GEC Marconi; a Project Manager Plessey Company;
and Product Engineering Manager with Burroughs Corporation
[now Unisys] both in Scotland and the United States of America.
In 1984, he was head-hunted by Sir Clive Sinclair to set
up a new division of Sinclair Research, where his team achieved
outstanding technical success, developing self-testing and
repairing whole wafer memory systems which have subsequently
been used and sold by Tandem Computers.
