Rod Baker - Program Director/Project Manager

Rod is a Project Management professional with over 30
years experience in a wide range of industry sectors. He
was originally an electronics engineer, and entered project
management as a Project Planner for Plessey in electronics
and heavy radar systems. He used his growing expertise in
applying software solutions to move into the project management
of systems development. Several years were spent selling
project management software, throughout the UK, Europe and
the US.
Rod established his own consultancy company which operated
successfully for eight years. During this time, he carried
out a variety of consultancy assignments for private and
public sector clients, including the MoD, Krupp Polysius,
William Press Offshore, Unisys and Racal Telecom. He also
developed and delivered a range of training courses in every
aspect of project management and successfully delivered
these to over 350 separate companies. Rod then worked for
several companies specialising in project and programme
management, as well as delivering education programmes.
Clients included British Rail, Docklands Light Railway,
Nuclear Electric and Syntegra.
In the last few years, Rod has completed many successful
projects and programmes for such diverse organizations as
Prudential, DHL, CMG, NatWest, WestLB, GE Finance, National
Air Traffic Services and Deutsche Bank. His most recent
assignments with the PSC Team have been with AEA Technology
and the TSCP Program.
Rod is an active member of the APM (Association for Project
Management) and has served six years on its Council. He
is a Certified Project Manager (CPM) and a Lead Assessor
for the APM Certificated Project Manager programme and a
Visiting Lecturer at Imperial College, London. Rod is a
non-Executive Director of the APM Group Ltd., which manages
PRINCE2 and MSP on behalf of the Office of Government Commerce
(OGC). He is also a Director of Project Essentials Ltd.,
an organization that provides products for project audit
and assessment.
